Fort Myers Skatium

We went to a skating event called A December to Remember here. It’s a kids ice skating show and is fantastic! We love watching the talented kids skate at this beautiful rink! The rink itself looks very well cared for and the ice is perfect. We can’t wait to come here as a family to skate! The reason we have it one star less is due to the concessions. They were old and the workers were scrambling to serve the people from the show. They were not prepared at all, and that was very disappointing. Most of the things on the menu were not available.

Ice skating in the sunshine state. Yes, it’s here. The rates and skate rentals are really reasonable. This place gets pretty crowded, so get there early. Huge rink with a lot of seating around for spectators. If you’re a beginner, there’s personal lessons for a fee and free skate walkers to help you get you on your way. There’s also a gymnasium, a fitness center, private party room and a snack bar. As well as locker rooms, lockers and restrooms. Lots of free parking, but be sure to check their schedule to avoid the rink being closed for games.

Visited the Fort Myers Skatium today (13/10/23), on a vacation from the UK. Couldn't have been happier with this place. I really hope the local city use this to their advantage because I would've loved to have a recreational area to do Ice and Roller hockey when I was a kid, coming from an ice hockey background and having to pay £15-£20 per session (EXCLUDING skate hire) 5-6 days a week before playing for the team. Ice was fantastic, especially compared to what I've been used to in my hometown back in the UK. Staff couldn't have been more accommodating, skate hire for $2 is so so good given the quality of skates available for such a low fee. Had conversations with lots of people in the rink whilst I was there including the a few guys from the local team, all were real nice people as I've always come to find with hockey players. Anyone looking to get into Ice Hockey or Roller Hockey then do NOT miss this place out. Place of my dreams as a kid to have somewhere like this to train. Will keep this place in my head for my return visits to FL. Thanks!

It's a little run down. The food is edible. The guy preparing the food wasn't wearing gloves! It was gross because I never saw him wash his hands. He was holding a soft pretzel, spraying it with some liquid in a bottle, then dipping it in salt like he was home preparing his own pretzel. I decided I'd get a drink. I saw a box of gloves, but I guess he didn't. Yuck 🤮
